The following is offered for reference only in 2009. Since the 2nd edition of Retire Secure! was printed, a new law was passed suspending Required Minimum Distributions for 2009.
For most individuals, your minimum required distribution can be calculated using this table. Please see technical notes to calculate your age for the purposes of this table. If this were a typical year in which you needed to take a required minimum distibution, you could figure your MRD for 2009 by dividing column two into the account balance of your combined IRA and retirement plan(s) as of December 31, 2008.
