Two New Tax Increases Dramatically Enhance the Benefits of Making a Roth IRA Conversion in 2010
Earlier analysis showed Roth IRA conversions are tremendously favorable in many situations assuming no income tax increases would occur in the future. Now we have the convergence of two tax increases that will have a dramatic impact on taxpayers in the 25% or higher tax brackets. The first major change is the sunset of the Bush era tax cuts which by itself will mean increased taxes for taxpayers in the 25% and higher marginal tax brackets. The second increase passed in 2010, effective in 2013, is a healthcare reform surtax of 3.8% on investment income for married taxpayers with incomes of $250,000 or more.
Below is a summary of the new effective tax rates comparing 2010 rates with 2011 rates, the year the Bush Era tax cuts sunset and 2013 rates when the Health Care Reform takes effect. Attend Jim’s workshop and learn how this will impact you and what you can do now to improve your bottom line.

A dynamic wealth-building opportunity has opened up in 2010. For many, if not most, high income IRA and retirement plan owners, Roth IRA conversions have been off their radar because of the old $100,000 income limit. With this restriction lifted in 2010, high-income earners need to find out whether a Roth IRA conversion could benefit their family, and if so, how much should be converted and when. If your income is consistently over $100,000, the benefits for your family of a Roth IRA conversion in 2010 can be measured in MILLIONS of dollars. You owe it to yourself and your family to explore whether a Roth IRA conversion of at least a portion of your IRA or retirement plan is appropriate. If so, how much should you convert? When should you convert? Should you make a series of Roth IRA conversions? Come to this workshop for the answers.
